MEET BRYAN & HIS FAMILY

State Representative Bryan Avila was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida. Bryan’s parents, Bryan and Rosa Maria, came to the United States seeking freedom from Cuba’s communist regime. His parents instilled in him the same principles that allowed them to become proud homeowners and successful citizens in the U.S.

A product of his community, Bryan understands the issues affecting its residents. He has always fought for the priorities of his community.

MILITARY SERVICE

  • Second Lieutenant in the Florida Army National Guard, 2016 – Present
  • Awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Florida State Active Duty Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal
  • Adjutant General Basic Officer Leader Course Honor Graduate, Commandant’s List, and Leadership Award Recipient
  • Serves as a Human Resources Officer

  • Adjunct Professor at Broward College, 2018 – Present
  • Member of the Board of Trustees at Jackson Health System, 2016 – 2019
  • Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College, 2009 – 2014

TRANSPORTATION REFORM & TOLL REDUCTION

After listening to the public outcry over the abusive toll rates set by the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX), Representative Avila sponsored and passed legislation to repeal MDX and create much needed toll relief for our residents. The new law does the following:
